Product Description and Contents
- Triops Eggs
Choose between 100, 200, or 300 Triops eggs, carefully hand-counted and separated from sand. We guarantee a hatching rate of 10–50 Triops per 100 eggs to ensure you get the best start in breeding.
- Organic Algae Powder and Rearing Food
This food supports the Triops during the first two weeks of rearing. Afterward, we recommend our ecological main food to continue feeding the Triops in a species-appropriate way.
- Floating Ring
The included floating ring prevents the Triops eggs from sticking to the edge of the hatching tank. This significantly increases the hatching rate.

Use the QR code to access a detailed expert-written guide. It ensures species-appropriate care and is suitable for both beginners and advanced breeders.
- Note:
This Triops variant is also available as a Triops breeding kit with a rearing tank, aquarium, and accessories. For beginners, a larger number of Triops eggs is recommended, while experienced breeders can achieve good results with fewer eggs.

Description
Triops, also known as tadpole shrimps, are fascinating gill-footed crustaceans that belong to the oldest living animal species and have existed on Earth for millions of years. The name "Triops" means "three-eyed," as these crustaceans have an additional nauplius eye along with their compound eyes.
Appearance and Size
Triops are characterized by a shield-shaped carapace and long tail forks. Depending on the species, they can reach lengths of up to 11 cm, with much of this length attributed to the long tail. Triops display various colors, which can become more intense depending on the species and age. Their prehistoric appearance and long development time make them "living fossils," providing insights into evolution.
Habitat and Behavior
Triops prefer to live in temporary waters that form after rainfalls or floods. They are well adapted to dynamic habitats and thrive in water temperatures of 24 to 26 °C. Triops are active and enjoy swimming around in the aquarium.
Reproduction
The reproduction of Triops is diverse and includes parthenogenesis, hermaphroditism, or sexual reproduction. Their resilient dormant eggs, known as cysts, can survive long periods of drought. The animals reach sexual maturity after about 9-14 days.
Care Tips
For aquarium care, a tank of at least 20 liters with fine sand substrate is recommended. A constant water temperature of 24 to 26 °C is ideal. For juveniles, algae powder and rearing food are suitable, while adult Triops can receive main food and plant-based options such as carrots, bell peppers, and cucumbers. Occasionally, animal food such as red mosquito larvae can also be fed.
Special Features
Triops are very easy to care for, making them suitable for children and beginners in aquaristics, depending on the species. Their robustness and adaptability provide an exciting, long-lasting aquarium experience, and their ability to produce cysts ensures a steady supply of new offspring. In the "Mix" variant, the eggs include those from all Triops species, meaning that one or more species may hatch.

Key Factors for a High Triops Hatching Rate
1. Optimal Water Quality
Water quality is a crucial factor for successful Triops breeding. Mix 75 % distilled water with 25 % mineral-rich water. Additionally, aim for a slightly acidic pH value between 6 and 8. For extra microorganisms to enrich the ecosystem, you can add a small amount of clean stream or rainwater. Avoid tap water, as it may contain harmful substances like chlorine, which can be detrimental to newly hatched Triops.
2. Ideal Water Temperature
Water temperature directly impacts the development and well-being of Triops. For hatching, the temperature should be around 25 °C (77 °F). Temperatures below 20 °C (68 °F) or above 30 °C (86 °F) can negatively affect hatching rates and growth. Use a heater to maintain a stable temperature and check it daily with a thermometer.
3. Sufficient Sunlight
Light is essential for the hatching and growth of Triops. Place the rearing tank in a bright location without direct sunlight to avoid excessive algae growth. Suitable aquatic plants like moss balls and hornwort can produce oxygen with the help of sunlight. These plants also enrich the tank by providing food and microorganisms, naturally supporting the rearing system...Read the complete instructions here
