Key Factors for a High Triops Hatching Rate
1. Optimal Water Quality
Water quality is a crucial factor for successful Triops breeding. Mix 75 % distilled water with 25 % mineral-rich water. Additionally, aim for a slightly acidic pH value between 6 and 8. For extra microorganisms to enrich the ecosystem, you can add a small amount of clean stream or rainwater. Avoid tap water, as it may contain harmful substances like chlorine, which can be detrimental to newly hatched Triops.
2. Ideal Water Temperature
Water temperature directly impacts the development and well-being of Triops. For hatching, the temperature should be around 25 °C (77 °F). Temperatures below 20 °C (68 °F) or above 30 °C (86 °F) can negatively affect hatching rates and growth. Use a heater to maintain a stable temperature and check it daily with a thermometer.
3. Sufficient Sunlight
Light is essential for the hatching and growth of Triops. Place the rearing tank in a bright location without direct sunlight to avoid excessive algae growth. Suitable aquatic plants like moss balls and hornwort can produce oxygen with the help of sunlight. These plants also enrich the tank by providing food and microorganisms, naturally supporting the rearing system...Read the complete instructions here
